As a provider of hypnotherapy training for mental health professionals, the Wellness Institute competes in a field saturated with “kooky,” low-quality websites. How to Track Unique Visits in HubSpot

If you've used Google Analytics, you're probably familiar with the idea of "unique visits" (although these days Google has actually updated their terminology to call these "users").

Marketers often care about unique visits because they trepresent unique, individual, anonymous visitors coming to a website - a good statistic to know! But this is often a dicey metric to track - even the best tools (like Google Analytics) can only make a "best guess" estimate by trying to track users with cookies which isn't always reliable. Users can clear cookies, use browsers that block cookies, or a whole host of other things that mess with this data (for a more technical explanation of how this works, check out this great article on Cutroni, Hits, Sessions & Users: Understanding Digital Analytics Data).

HubSpot Hack: How to Caption a Picture in the Blogging Tool Without Tables

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but sometimes, you need to add a few actual words to complete the story. For HubSpot users, this can be a minor annoyance, because HubSpot does not currently offer an easy way to add captions or credits below images in its blogging tool.

You could do this using tables or by messing around in the source code of your blog post, but for an English major like me, those methods are just asking for headaches. I hate wasting time and brainpower figuring out how to format a blog post just right. I want it to be easy.

So here’s how to add captions and photo credits to pictures in HubSpot without deviating too far into that analytical left side of your brain.

The 5 Reasons I Left HubSpot (Even Though I Loved Working There)

Two months ago, I was reporting for work every day to a job that I loved, with people I admired, at a company I believed in (which, incidentally, was recently named the city’s best place to work by the Boston Globe). Who would give all that up to take his chances somewhere else?

I did.

Why would I — a true believer in the power of inbound marketing as the modern way to do marketing — want to leave HubSpot, the biggest and best inbound marketing brand in the world, the company that invented inbound marketing?

How We Created a Paid Content Area for the Wellness Institute [Hubspot Hacks]

Many businesses or schools have content that should only be accessed by certain people. For b2b businesses, this could include “premium” (paid content) or even a series of content that you want to feel “premium” or exclusive. For schools, a hidden/custom content area could include important course materials, documentation, or even an applicant dashboard that pulls in curated content and information aligned directly to their interests.

3 Reasons Why Your Marketing Emails are Being Ignored

When was the last time you opened an email from someone you didn’t know? For me, it was in the late 90s, when email was new and amusing to me. Here in the 21st century, for the most part, people don't interact with email addresses they don't recognize. According to Kentico, 77% of respondents say they’re unlikely to welcome an unsolicited email even if it’s relevant to them.

Email Marketing is Not Marketing Automation

Every morning on my commute to work, I listen to NPR (sometimes intently, other times for background noise). Ever since I started to become involved in marketing, one thing that always seems to grab my attention, regardless if I am in a lull, is an advertisement by email marketing company Constant Contact.
